ACTIVITIES FOR 2007

  • Five General meetings-average attendances of 20 members, programs relating to civic and religious.
  • Annual Communion Breakfast- about 60 to 80 in attendance, this year’s speaker was our own Deacon Tom Coyle
  • Annual Retreat at San Alfonso, West Long Branch- 16 attendees for weekend, we have members who have been attending for 30-35 consecutive years.
  • Irish Night- Annual social celebration, average attendance of 250 people, has existed for 15 years
  • Man of the Year Dinner-The Federation of Holy Name Societies for the Archdiocese holds this event annually. We select our Man of the Year and attend the Mass and Dinner. This year our Man of the Year was Frank Candido. We usually have the most attendees, this year we had 52.
  • Parish Picnic- We had 22 members volunteer to man games, food etc.
  • Sponsor a Bowling Lane for $500 in the Circle of Friends and St. Thomas Youth Group Bowl A Thon held on December 2nd- raised close to $14,000, the Youth Group gets half – almost all costs were donated so their share will be $6,500 to $7,000- last year was about $5,000.
  • Sponsor of the Youth Concert this year- bought $600 of tickets.
  • Paul Alongi as President participated in a Federation raffle for two Giant season tickets for all the 2007 home games, he won and on behalf of the Holy Name donated net proceeds of $1,000 or so to the Parish Picnic.
